Graduate Assistantship in Clarinet Performance






The University of Florida School of Music announces an opening for the position of Graduate Assistant in Clarinet Performance. This appointment is available for the academic years 2015-2016 and 2016-2017. 

The responsibilities of the position will include: 

  • teaching undergraduate non-major clarinet students
  • teaching woodwind methods classes
  • performing in University of Florida ensembles
  • assisting with the University of Florida Clarinet Ensemble
  • assisting Professor Estrin in the day to day operations of the Clarinet Studio

Qualifications for the position are: 

  • an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution 
  • a strong background in clarinet performance
  • excellent communication and organizational skills
  • an outstanding musical/academic record.

The Assistantship offers:

  • Stipend of ≈ $5000
  • 9 Credit Hours per Semester
  • Free Health Insurance
  • Out-of-State Tuition Waiver value ≈ $20,000
  • Florida Resident value ≈ $7,000

Graduate Audition Materials:
1. Mozart - Clarinet Concerto
2. A contrasting solo selection of your choice
3. First clarinet orchestral excerpts:
     Beethoven - Symphony No. 6 
Brahms - Symphony No. 3
Rimsky-Korsakov - Capriccio Espagnol  
    This is the suggested audition repertoire list.  Commensurate literature is also acceptable.
